Eeben is an Oriental Dance or Belly Dance artist and teacher. She has been practising the dance since 2003, when an encounter with Arabic music took her to her first Belly Dance class. Since then the dance has been an inseparable part of her life. Eeben is drawn to Belly Dance because of its ancient originis and it being truly feminine in its nature and way of expression. The dance expresses – sometimes elegantly and gracefully, sometimes explosively and electrically, but always sincerely – the joy of life, different feelings, passion and playfulness.
As a multi-awarded artist and choreographer, Eeben has performed around Europe and the Middle East. As a dance teacher she conducts workshops and courses, organises dance events such as the International Oriental Dance Festival in Tallinn, and promotes Oriental Dance related educational materials. Eeben has an academic background in Near Eastern and Asian Studies and in Social Anthropology. She has taught Near Eastern Solo Improvisation and Oriental Dance Studies at the Faculty of Choreography at Tallinn University. Eeben is a founding member of the Estonian Chamber of Oriental Dance.
